News from Jimmy

The 2007 St Jude's Boys JV basketball team recently won the St. Anns basketball tournement in Bridgeport, CT. After being in 4th place for many weeks they went on to play an undefeated St.Ambrose team from Bridgeport, on Saturday February 2nd. After a commanding victory in this game they had to return the next day to play St. James of Stratford for the championship. The boys played outstanding defense and for a group of only eight 11 year old boys you couldn't be any prouder. A total team effort. Below is an email sent out by Coach Michael Prutting and team photos.

Congratulations to all the boys and their parents for a great performance this weekend in the St. Ann's League! The boys did an incredible job beating the previously undefeated #1 seed on Saturday (St. Ambrose) and then going on to beat St. James (who had beaten us the previous 2 times we met) for the championship. The boys decided they wanted to win this championship and their confidence and team spirit really kicked in. I am very proud of the determination, focus and sportsmanship they displayed. They played outstanding defense holding the leading scorers on both St. Ambrose and St. James to very few points while committing very few fouls. I also want to congratulate and thank the parents for all their support during the season. You are a great group of parents and Coach Mercado and I are blessed to be able to work with you. This truly was a team effort. I know how hard the boys worked and how excited they are to hang another banner in the gym.
